Food is a big part of every wedding. For a lot of Indian and Eastern weddings, feeding sweets such as a Ladoo, or any other sweet is considered a Shagun (good luck or blessing). This is a cultural way to show love and blessings. Although we can't debate on culture, one thing I find very awkward as a photographer; is people looking at the camera and posing for while feeding and being fed. This has to be the most awkward photos. In straight description, imagine looking in a separate direction while performing any task. This is un-natural and very uncomfortable. For the person being fed, imagine stuffing your mouth with a Ladoo, and looking at the camera, posing and trying to smile. Instead, let's focus on the candid moments of our cultures, feed the Shagun in natural element. In an intimate, and a joyous occasion, families should rather focus on the happiness and the moments, and let the photographers capture the love. Have you ever had a camera man focus on you while you're just trying to enjoy a good meal at Indian weddings? Yeah, we understand how frustrating and annoying it is. This is another trend we need to move past. Living in the moment, enjoying food, and sharing happiness via food should be an intimate and comfortable experience. If necessary, photographers should take wide and candid shots of the dining area, and never focus, specially being close up to the guests. This makes everyone uncomfortable and takes away from the moment being, in the moment.
